Chris Boucher "Grind Now, Shine Later"

NBA Canada has launched a 12 minute short film on June 18th on Chris Boucher. A player's path to the NBA is often years in the making, which makes Montreal-native Chris Boucher's story that much more incredible. From an undiscovered talent at age 19 to the first international player signed to a two-way contract with the reigning NBA Champions, Golden State Warriors, this underdog story reaches peaks as high as Sports Illustrated covers and challenges surmounted by gritty determination. Judy Byrne named Executive Director of Basketball

Judy Byrne was recently named the new Executive Director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association. She served as the Technical Director for the provincial association over the past 9 years and replaces Bill Murphy, who served in the position for the past 29 years. Byrne, originally from Placentia, was a standout at Memorial University varsity women's program in the early 1990's before moving to the United States after her education. She returned to the province in 2007 and assisted under Doug Partridge in 2008-09. Byrne secured the Technical Directors position in 2010; promoting the NCCP, grassroots, and the provincial programs of the NLBA. Current President of the NLBA, Mr. Tom Warren, stated "Judy will make a perfect Executive Director as she has been groomed for this position over the last few years. She will make an excellent ED as she is familiar with the goals and objectives of the association." Murphy will remain in the position until the end of December before entering retirement.
